Meet NIA

Neeka Irene Alami is a multidisciplinary artist and the founder of NIA. Originally from California's Bay Area, she now calls the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina home, where she lives with her partner and their two beloved rescue dogs.

Specializing in oil painting, Neeka also channels her creativity through dance, poetry, writing, photography, graphite drawing, and mixed media. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UCLA, with additional studies in Art History, including a term abroad in Rome, Italy, focusing on Baroque art.

With a strong foundation in drawing and painting honed through workshops and classes, Neeka also shares her passion by teaching painting to adults and children. Her travels around the world have profoundly influenced her art, inspiring a universal perspective. Neeka's work delves into themes of esoteric spirituality, self-discovery, and the interconnectedness of life, nature, and the cosmos.

Some of the artists Neeka is most inspired by include Sargent, Sorolla, Monet, Van Gogh, Matisse, Klimt, and Da Vinci.

"Art and learning the principles of painting and drawing changed my life. Now, I want to pass on the gifts my teachers once shared with me. My hope is to inspire others to become conscious creators within their life and to fall in love with their own unique masterpiece. With the practices and guidance shared through NIA's methods comes the ability to see all moments through the eyes of the artist: to see beauty in the mundane, as well as in both tragic and joyful experiences."
